Beaufort Kiwanis Club Benefits form BI-LO Charities

Beaufort, SC- The Kiwanis Club of Beaufort was recently awarded a grant from BI-LO Charities for $6043 in recognition of their community service efforts in the Northern Beaufort region. BI-LO Charities commenced its 2007 10 Days of Giving Campaign on November 5 in Greenville and recently announced that charities in the Greater Charleston area will be the recipients of more than $165,000 in grants. The funds, part of $5.6 million raised in this year’s BI-LO Charity Classic Golf Tournament were awarded to 30 organizations during a presentation at the Medical University of Charleston on Nov 13.

The BI-LO Charity Classic, now in its 24th year, has become the largest single day charity tournament in the country and has continued to grow each year. BI-LO distributes the funds raised in the tournament to non-profit organizations through the southeast in communities where they operate supermarkets.

BI-LO, headquartered in Mauldin, SC, operates 222 supermarkets in the Carolinas (two stores in Beaufort), Georgia and Tennessee and employs approximately 17,000 people. The company has a strong commitment to community involvement through philanthropy, supporting charitable organizations assisting children, hunger relief and education.

The Kiwanis Club of Beaufort will soon commence its 25th year of charitable and community service benefiting the children of Northern Beaufort county.
