Beaufort Kiwanis Club Supports The Little Red Dog Foundation Tryke Giveaway (14 April 2007)

Thanks for supporting Little Red Dog's Work

The Little Red Dog Foundation recently gave away a dozen cycles to children with disabilities. It was the most amazing sight I have ever witnessed. All who came saw wheel chairs and walkers left on the sidelines as children took their first rides on their own specially equipped cycles.

None of this would have been possible without the hard work of many people in the community who took this wonderful cause into their hearts and gave unselfishly. There were many unsung heroes. A special thanks to Lady's Island-St. Helena's and Sams Point fire stations and the Kiwanis Club. They assembled each cycle and helped with our event. We couldn't have accomplished our mission if it had not been for Coastal Physical Therapy and its group of therapists, who fitted children to their cycles. We are also lucky to have the Lady's Island branch of SCB&T volunteer to take care of donations and Charles at Spectrum Design for our famous Little Red Dog T-shirt logo, attorney Jim Wegmann, Beaufort Academy, Murr's Printing, Publix and Chick-fil-A.

Donations ranged from $850 to a Catholic nun who sent in $5 on three occasions. Every donation, no matter how small, is precious to us because each one makes it possible for another special person to ride with freedom.

A tremendous thanks to The Beaufort Gazette and WTOC-TV for their wonderful coverage of the foundation, which has resulted in many more donations.
